R.I.P. Erik.

Erik was my constant companion in the garden, no matter where I went in the garden he was by my side. We all enjoyed having him around even when he chased the chooks, or dug up veggies to bury a bone or let off the silent but ever so violent Erik farts, he was part of the family. He will be missed. xxx

  1. From the best Aussie film ever made: The Castle

Dale Kerrigan: We also have pets... 4 greyhounds. Banshee, Starflash, Trailblazer & Coco. Coco is the best most successful dog Dad has ever had. She picked up two 1st's in the country and a 3rd in town. Dad feeds them every morning in big bowls that Steve made out of tractor hubcaps. They are good dogs. Good to Dad. And Dad is good to them...

Another thing Dad loves is his boat, Sealady. He cleans it every Saturday morning with another thing Steve built. It's a brush with a hose in it. Dad never stops marvelling at Steve's ideas.

Dad: He's an ideas man, Steve.

Dale: Steve gave it to Dad on Father's Day. That's another thing our family prides itself on... presents. Even though none of us really have a lot of money, we love giving each other presents. Trace got Dad a rod and reel.

Dad: Look at that, a rod and reel!

Dale: I got Dad a muzzle...

    Dad: A muzzle.

Dale: Wayne sent him an ashtray he'd made in prison...

Dad: An ashtray?! But I don't smoke!

Dale: And Mum got him a big German beer mug from Franklin Mint and Dad couldn't believe his eyes! It was too good to even drink beer out of!

    Mum: I'd like do pottery.

Dad: Oh you should. You'd be good at it. THIS is going straight to the pool room.

Iris, I love your blogs. Take me back to the simple things in life. When I saw your RIP Erik I thought of The Castle and Youtubed this scene. Had to write it down for you. Love you, Jonny, the boys, your garden, your pets (RIP Erik) the chooks I'm looking fwd to meeting, and your life in Huon Valley. It makes me smile. Warm fuzzies, love Wal x
